I've picked up a few recently, but haven't had the time to get on BF in a little while.
This is a BEAUTIFUL prototype from my buddy Justin Lundquist. It features a 26c3 (Spicy White) steel with a smoky hamon at 64.5 hrc. Chisel grind with an asymmetrical swedge. Black G10, Ivory Linen, and Dragontail Richlite frame handle, with carbon fiber and ivory linen pins, and a three part hidden ivory linen backspacer. This knife is a 16 piece construction and is completely out of this world!
This is a Machinewise Sonara, which seems to be getting a lot of fanfare lately. Honestly, I've been slightly let down by it. The flipper tab is in serious need of jimping, and I wish the action was as snappy as some of my other button lock knives. They do seem to have the detent firmness dialed in now though. Aside from those two things (which I really think should be addressed on a knife priced like this), it's a really great knife. The closing action is the smoothest I've every experienced. They really know what they're doing with the bushing system. The grind is cool, and I appreciate the mirror finished edge. The machining is really great, as is the rest of the fit and finish. I love that it's an integral constructed knife.
I don't really have a use for this one, but Spyderco was donating all proceeds to the L.A. wildland Firefighter Foundation, so why not? I think I'll clip it to the wife's sun visor in the car or something.
