I had a couple of boxes show up today. Too late for Father’s Day, but whatchya gonna do?
Isn’t that itty-bitty little Spyderco box in the middle the cutest thing ever?!?
Yummy.
I needed a Salt for a sailing/diving/fishing trip next week, and I struggled for weeks trying to decide which one
(and hoping LC200N would get here). I totally decided right! The Pacific is awesome and I intend to use the crap out of it!
The Rhino was an impulse buy, mostly out of cutiosity. Fit & finish is worthy of its Taichung origin. Good ergos, I can get 3.5 fingers! Blade to handle ratio is a bit off aesthetically
(maybe more than a bit), but I can tell the huge belly, upswept tip, and negative blade angle will make up for the short blade when in use. I may wind up buying multiples of this knife for classy gift giving. Facile closing will take some getting used to. The clip is uncharacteristicly stiff for Spyderco.
The Spyder Monkey was my “real” Father’s Day gift. I’ve been hesitant to pick one of these up based on early edition QC comments from YouTube and a few on here. Well, out of the box my sample is about perfect! Solid detent, well centered, zero blade play or lockstick. My only nitpick is strong lockbar tension that diminishes smoothness; that will hopefully improve as the detent track wears in. It flicks great but the thumb-roll is a bit stiff. This knife is the perfect size, sturdiness, and classy-ness for my EDC. I’m undecided about the pocket clip at this point.
