I acquired a Zero Tolerance 0456.

It was for sale on eBay, and was listed as a new knife. The seller was a pawn shop. It was a cheaper than all the other ZT 0456s on eBay. I expected to get a LNIB knife that a collector had bought, then pawned because he needed money. I expected the box would show signs of being opened, but the knife to be pristine.

The knife arrived, and the box was more worn than I expected. Not really bad, but not as good as I was expecting. The scales on the knife looked brand new, but somebody had cut something with the knife, and hadn't cleaned the blade. There was some sort of residue on the blade. I was able to get it off the blade using acetone. I tried lighter fluid, and it did nothing. Once I did that, the knife did LOOK new. I discovered that center of the blade wasn't as sharp as it should have been. Not anywhere near dull, but not as sharp as the blade was near the pivot, and near the point of the blade.

So NOT a new knife. I dealt with the seller, the man who owns the pawn shop. He said one of his employees handles selling stuff on eBay, and should have listed it as used. He was surprisingly nice about the situation. He immediately offered a full refund, including paying for return shipping. He had a 100% positive feedback record on eBay, on over 600 transactions. That's why I bought the knife from him. I figured the knife would be really nice.

Once I got the gunk off the blade, it LOOKED brand new new. Instead of returning it, I negotiated with him, and got him to refund part of what I had paid, so the final cost was $180. A significant savings over the $240 that is the usual price for this knife, which has a MSRP of $300.

I am very pleased with how it worked out on this expensive knife. How do the experts here think I did?

I bought a set of blue anodized titanium screws for the knife. With the blue spacer, they look really nice.

I'm sorry, but I don't know how to post photographs. I'm kind of new here.

That sounds like as perfect of an outcome as one could hope for when buying knives off that bay place! Sweet knife too! Enjoy...

Spyderco Domino from the exchange arrives tomorrow (black CF) and then this should be here next week:

That uh...that's actually a really nice knife. Wow.

Also, dag, it's almost impossible to find any info on it. Can you assist?

Its called the Buck Mesa. Bought it at Wally, that's the only place I've seen it.

Just purchased a CRKT Fossil compact w/veff serrations through Amazon.ca; just waiting for it to arrive in the mail now! Had a chance to handle the full sized model and the compact model w/o serrations at my local store and I really liked the in-hand feel with the smaller version being perfect for EDC for me, I just wished that the blade steel was better than 8cr13MoV for almost $100CDN after tax. But over-paying for product materials seems to be the CRKT way so I'll just have to live with that I guess...

The human mind is a weird thing: When I first saw an example of MT's Zombie Tech, I thought "uh - tasteless. :barf:" Fast forward a few years while in the throes of a sudden OTF/colorful knife fixation, and suddenly, I'm diggin' the damn things. Go figure.
