Everyone's latest acquisitions!

Indiana Knives EDZ: My first Vanax blade. Judging from Larrin's ratings, Vanax is the second best all-around steel, after Magnacut. Here are BESS scores at five spots spaced along the blade from near the tip to near the heel:
133 187 194 170 177
Secondary bevel angles are 20 and 22 degrees. Very little convexity. Primary angles are about 2.5 degrees. Full flat grind. Blade thickness looks like a smidge over 1/10 inch. The choil works for me as a finger choil, but it might not if you have large fingers.

Great action. The hole is about 95% as good as a Spydie hole. I can flick it open with thumb, forefinger, or middle finger. Solid lock up. Drops closed, but if you do not release the button at the right moment, the blade bounces quite a bit. The button lock has been flawless through a couple hundred cycles.

Beautiful F&F. The handle is silky smooth, but the shape provides a secure and comfortable grip. There is a filler tab for the extra recess for the pocket clip.

My only serious complaint is that the pocket clip is too tight to go over the hems on my pockets.

Thanks. I’ve been looking at Wiha, but I couldn’t decide on which set to get. This pushed me off the fence and I just ordered one. I have a little throw-together kit with micro torx bits, a micro bit ratchet driver, and a Kershaw TX tool in a knife pouch that’s probably all I really need for knife maintenance, but this is everything and then some in one nice little set that will live in the knife drawer. And anyway, who here among us ever stops at all we need.
I have the Wiha GoBox, which does not have the sockets and will fit in a pocket. It is great. I have never had a Wiha driver strip a screw. But the handle does not provide much leverage when you are dealing with Blue Loctite. So I just got a set of set Wiha wing-handled Torx drivers, which made it easy to loosen the pivots on the Bailout and Mini Freek that I got in the last few months and that were the first Benchmades I have encountered with thread locker.

Good info. I have no intentions of taking these tools anywhere, so this little 65 piece set will do me just fine. In fact it got here earlier today, and it definitely exudes quality. My first Wiha’s, and they’re very nice tools.

I just had to do it. I was looking for ‘gentleman’s’ knives, and I stumbled upon this Nedfoss brand. Yeah yeah, it’s a Chinese company. But most of their offerings are in the $30-$35 range, so I just had to see if they’re any good. This one is the Elf Prince model. I’ll tell ya, I’m impressed. Nothing extraordinary for materials - D2 steel blade, stainless steel and G10 handles, pivot bearings - but it sure is put together nicely and is very solid feeling. Action is surprisingly good - detent is just right, and the bearings give a nice quick and smooth flip, as smooth as anything else in the drawer, easier than my ZT’s. Comes with this CF-looking case with a cleaning cloth and torx wrench. Not exactly a CRK substitute, but I’d have no problem carrying it around when I’m out and about.

Ok who did that.....?????!!!!... Looks awesome and I'm not the most tanto enamored person but that's cool..
It's a regrind, done before the guy that graciously let it go to me. Not sure who did the grind and blade coat, but it is well executed with no loss in blade length and a mirror polish edge all around. I wanted a completely unique SHF, and I found it in this one!

Thank you much!!!!! Appreciate the response!!!! Cool blade👍👍👍

And...Tomorrow, I'll put some money in the bank and some Poltava CBN stones will be in the mail. I've been putting it off because of the price. I gotta upgrade from my older, cheapy, diamond stones. They've served me well but it's time.

I already have a Poltava CBN in 2000 I use for polishing. So the 240, 400, 600, and 1000 will get ordered. If I need something lower then 240, my 150 diamond is still going strong. I don't use it very often anyway.
