My sister found her 7 year old daughter, my beloved niece, with this. My sister said that my niece apparently has had it for awhile now and has been hiding it on her person:

I told my sister that rather than punishing her for it, teach her how to be responsible with it. She's been responsible enough on her own with it this far. BTW, just in case anyone is about to give me the environmental factors that probably played a role in my niece having this, the title was just a joke.:p

Mods, if this is in the wrong forum, please move it and I apologize for any inconvenience.

The worst thing you can do as a parent, is to stifle a child's natural inclinations. Show her how to use it.

Make sure she puts a micro bevel on that so she does not spend homework time resharpening it. I bet she gets an A this year on all her cut and paste projects.

Teach that girl how to hand sharpen her knife and it will accomplish several objectives. First, it will let her know that you really are okay with her knife ownership. Second, it will tell her you care about her. Third, it will allow you to become a trusted confidant in knifely doings, which will help her to learn about safety, knife etiquette, and so forth.

It belonged to my cousin who my sister lives with. It was in a drawer in the kitchen.

In that case determine whether the child considers this stealing or not. If you're sure the child is not getting any bad ideas, then teach them to be responsible with knife. Better to start them right.:)

Don't wanna hijack the thread, nor do I know how to link videos:confused::(:o

That's too cute. I hope she gets to keep it. She's responcible enough, my 7yo niece has a cell phone.
