  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Exceptional Folders

You have some nice suggestions. I like large Sebenza, Zaan, Grayman Dua, Spydercos such as Gayle Bradley, Techno, Stretch, Sage 2, Spyderco 2013 Forum knife in S110v, TAD Dauntless, Kershaw JYD 2.2, Strider SMF and Sng. Lots of nice stuff out there.

From my point of view: Benchmade 800 - 805 series, Spyderco Chinese folder and Kershaw Boa.

The ZT 0560 is an amazing knife. I have one and love it.

I would also include the ZT 0350 in that category. The knife is affordable and built like a tank. I have two in my collection that I rotate for EDC. Love the blade shape and the speed assist is awesome.

A lot of my knives end up sitting on the shelf, but I find myself always coming back to the 0350... It's definitely one of my favorite blades of all time.

Some of them have been mentioned before, but I'll play.

I have yet to get into the custom market, but I have found a couple of production folders that I feel are exceptional.

The Benchmade Mini-Grip, in all it's flavors. Consistent quality, excellent ergonomics, and a variety of options to make it your own. Benchmade even allows you to customize one on their website.

The Kershaw Cryo II. All steel construction makes it feel very stout for it's size, comfortable to use, and Kershaw pays attention to the heat treat, getting the best out of that 8cCrMov-whatever it is steel.

Boker Nano. Funky, chunky, stout style, the Nano is my choice when I don't want to scare non-knife people. Fit and finish on mine is excellent, with even gaps around all the screws, and that signature Curtiss pocket clip. Which holds the knife securely without shredding my pockets.

CRKT Ripple. One of the least expensive ways to get the IKBS, the Ripple comes in several colors and sizes, making it easy to get a flipper.

Cold Steel's goofy marketing belies the quality of their products. I have a Micro-Recon, and a Mini-Recon, and both feel quite sturdy, even with plastic handles. The Triad Lock makes it possible to forgive them for stabbing sides of beef and all the other antics.

David boye folding boat knife. Dendritic cobalt for the blade, a 30 year design evolution.

Some exceptional knives to add, hmmmm how about....

Todd Begg Ti Bodega
Scott Cook Lochsa
Jake Hoback Kawaiback
David Mosier Crossfire & Creep
RJ Martin Q36
Michael Raymond Estrella
Jim Burke Dead Man Walking (DMW)
Tom Mayo Dr. Death Jr Flipper
Sal Manaro Bullseye

I can go on for hours on exceptional blades lol. It's all based on personal preference in the end, but there are tons of Custom Knives that are amazing.

I was very impressed with my Spyderco Stretch in ZDP-189. It sports a fantastic blade profile, and has a solid lockup. The British Racing Green is a color that'll grow on you too, not that it really matters. Ergonomic as all get out, fits like a glove.

Good call :) Gotta respect how you picked a knife that you actually use and have found to be exceptional instead of naming Lamborghini blades and art pieces. It's my favorite EDC type folder as well.

Anything by Pat and Wes Crawford, especially the KFF and Perseco, Cutter's Knife and Tool Brend # 2, and for production knives Microtech SOCOM Delta with G-10 handle scales.

No mentions yet of the Benchmade Adamas?
The fit and finish is perfect.
Smooth as hot butter on fresh glass.
And the blade is as centered as ever.
Oh, and it's built like a diamond-tungsten 5 ton tank.

My Techno. Perfect for any occasion.

... the one that is tripping me out is my Cold Steel Tuff-Lite.....materials are not exotic by any means....but the design and ergos are brilliant.

It is a hell of a knife for $30. Like an overbuilt razor.

(I've agreed with the Spyderco Stretch in ZDP-189...I have it in BLUE.)
And yes, the BM 275 Adamas is something like the Eiffel Tower...big, tough and brutish, but don't know what it's good for. I do have two of these NIB; haven't carried one yet, however.

The BM Contego has turned out to be a constant companion. Strong and solid. Lock is easy to one hand and can be had with a coated blade or not,
combo or not. If this is too large the many Grip's are a good alternative.
Frank.
