Excess Cord Loop On DB

I've just obtained a Strider DB for carry. The knife's beyond description as far as quality and I love the multi-position sheath. The only thing I am concerned about is that the cord loop seems to sort of be "in the way" when I practice my draw stroke with the knife.

To those of you long time Strider carriers; is this something I'll get use to, or should I shorten up the cord loop, or possible cut it off flush with the end of the handle.

I don't plan to do any chopping or extensive working with this particular knife, so I wonder if it'd be ok to just cut the cord off.

Thanks to anyone with suggestions.

Dave

On by DB, which was the first Strider I ever purchased, (Duane, I got it from you yourself at the Great Western Show some years ago; you know the story behind it.....the life saver) I thought the lanyard was too long. I cut it off a little after the knot and used a light to melt the ends just like Mick suggested. Mick is right, it's awesome.
