Exchange issues? What is welching?

In Celtic culture there is no difference between this life and the next and the next life after that etc forever.

Therefore from a purely Celtic viewpoint, if I owed money in this life but for some reason was unable to pay it, then quite naturally I would pay off the debt in the next life or the one after that.

It has been understood by non-Celts (Anglo Saxons) that the Welsh therefore cannot be trusted - so the word Welsh/Welch is used to describe a person who does not pay up when the debt is due to be paid etc.

Interesting..

IMO, this seller needs an attitude adjustment…. perhaps it's just that time of the month? Being that there's not a history of the buyer doing this repeatedly, to threaten 'banning' which he does not in fact control is an overreach of enormous proportions.

Listing an item for sale here is a solicitation of an offer to buy.

When you say, "I'll take it" you are offering to buy the item.

The seller does not have to accept your offer to buy.

If you retract your offer to buy before the seller accepts it, there is no contract of sale.

But that's just the law. Social convention may be otherwise.

I have seen over an over in this forum the statement that there is no deal unless both parties are satisfied. That goes beyond offer and acceptance to elevating "buyer's remorse" over even a contract made in the eyes of the law.

The advice that amounts to "Don't make an offer you don't strongly intend to stand by" sounds pretty good to me.

All my pencils have erasers. I say we cut the OP some slack and give him an opportunity to learn his lesson. My guess is he's already learned it.

Absolutely. I think he gets the point and understands the way it works now. He came forward admitted being a bit "flaky" .

I, for one, am grateful for this thread. Hopefully, other new members will see this and gain from it as well.

Wait...what? Who threatened banning on this member? I'm sure it's simply a misrepresentation once again of what was written by the only Exchange mo that has posted here so far. I would not worry to much about commentary coming from the peanut gallery. The only mods to have posted in this thread up to this point are myself and leatherman.

Wait...what? Who threatened banning on this member? I'm interested to know.

It's in the original post.

The other night, In the exchange forum I stated I would purchase a zt 0350 but then after further looking at the pictures the thing was beat to hell. And I let the starter of the thread now that I changed my mind, I informed him or her in a nice way. But now he or she is really threatening me saying that he's going to report me for welching and that he is going to get me banned. I Even sent him another pm saying that I'm truly sorry and even asking him what welching is then he replied that he's just going to get me banned. Can anyone elaborate on this? What's welching? Who was at fault? Is this guy right or is he just being rude? Sorry if this is a stupid question but this is the first time I've run into this conflict and faced a another member like this. Thank you

To put everyone's mind at ease, members cannot ban one another, only Spark and mods can.
This topic has run it's course.
