Exchange Items per day?

Yep Matt, I saw yours there with mine! and your knife hasn't sold yet... if that isn't proof there is a problem, I don't know what is! :D

I think that 4-5 posts a day is a good idea, past that point, buy a subforum. It does really hinder sales for someone that doesn't spend 18 hours a day in the shop. Obviously if you have 7 knives a day in the exchange, you can swing the cost of a subforum. I think at that point it is abuse.

I think you are right Mike! Anyone else like to comment on this subject? The more input the better.

I agree that there needs to be enforcement of the rules in the Exchange.

As a new maker, I won't be posting many knives, but wouldn't enjoy seeing them get bumped all the way down the page in a day, or, in hours...
I say from my research that it's more a need for closer moderation of the existing rules. Consolidate sales to single posts, limit "bumping", and if a maker has the ability to make 100 knives a month and they can't sell with consolidated posts make em get a subforum. Honestly, if you are selling that many knives, a subforum with the "fan club" that goes with them would be a good thing.
Maybe see if the existing moderators for the Exchange can be more active?

PM them, see what they think.

I don't believe a Knifemaker forum really costs anything. It comes with paying three years KM membership up front.

One problem with consolidating Knifemaker ads is that they really need more photos than an ad for a well-known production knife. This makes a thread with, say, five knives a monster, and ten knives? I would time out before it would load. Good reason for a subforum. Limit the number of photos for each knife or each thread, and a comment: see my subforum for more pictures.

Thanks Esav...

So not to push more rules, if we reinforce the consolidation rule already in place. it would be up to the maker to decide if consolidating is too big a pain, then make the choice to get a sub forum. Other wise deal with it? I was hoping for some time frames where it would be acceptable to post another thread in the exchange? (I am looking for a guideline not an addition to the rule).

I think there is enough activity here that a 24 hr. period would be logical. If you are going to post more than one knife a day you need to consolidate the items. If you are posting 5-10 knives on a daily basis, I have a hard time believing they are full customs. (I could be wrong)

So....why am I STILL seeing first page domination by the usual suspect(s)?

At the moment, there are seven (7) threads by one maker on the front page. The dude needs his own forum, his own website, or the boot. Jeebus.

Well....now I can't find the "Consolidate your threads" rule. So did we open the door to grenading everyone else's thread off the front page? I don't have any knives to sell right now, and probably won't for some time - but the multiple thread dump thing sucks.

SECTION 3 - Rules for Sellers / Traders / Service Providers (hereafter referred to as "Sellers"):

1.Rules for everyone:

1. Selling on this site is restricted to the appropriate designated forums.
2.Do not list items, or offer services that are illegal.
3.Do not post items for sale or trade if you do not have them in your physical possession.
4.Do not list items for sale unless you are 100% sure that you want to sell them - no "testing the waters" to gauge buyer interest
5.DO NOT SPAM KEYWORDS. Items listed in the ad must actually be for sale in that ad and that ad ONLY. This isn't ebay or craigslist - If you spam keywords trying to increase the visibility of your ad(s), your ad will be deleted and your account will be locked.
6.No sales for third parties. If your "friend" wants an item sold, they must create their own account and list it themselves.
7.Thread titles must be accurate and descriptive.
8. All ads should be placed in ONE appropriate forum. NO CROSS POSTING OF ADS IN MULTIPLE FORUMS.
9. All items offered for sale must be priced. Items being traded CAN NOT list cash value pricing; if you do so your ad will be locked or deleted.
10. Sellers must have valid contact information and provide it to the site staff upon request.
11. Sellers must have their profile set to allow contact from other members, moderators & administrators via email.
12.Do not get caught with a secondary or shill account. Both accounts will be banned and no refund will be issued.
13.Please indicate in the original post after the item has been sold or traded. It'd be nice if you locked the thread too.
14.You are not required to edit out, or leave in place, the original or final selling price. That is your prerogative.
15.Consolidate your sales listings. Do not list single items in separate threads.
16.REPOSTING / RELISTING: You must wait two (2) weeks (14 days) to relist items for sale after the first time they have been listed. Don't try to circumvent this, your sale will be deleted, and your account will be locked.

If we are looking for a time frame that's easy to remember and enforce: one day. Everything on the same day goes in one thread. If he wants 10 separate threads, it takes 10 days to post them.

this is the best thing I've heard yet!!!

#15 violation problem solved :D

I'd be pretty bent myself If I had something listed (and consolidated in one thread) to watch it get booted off the page because someone refuses or lacks the common courtesy to follow rules.

Not a maker, but this is exactly what I have thought all along, and it should apply to every for sale/trade forum not just the makers sections.

That's a brilliant idea. I'm going to update this now.

Thank you, sir. I believe most sellers will be fine with this since they already do it. The others will come to see it is not a problem for them, either.

I dig that. Major progress. Clarity for the win!

So let it be written, so let it be done! :D

15. Consolidate your sales listings. Do not list single items in separate threads. This means 1 thread per day, per individual. You want to list multiple threads? Do them on separate days. We will not tolerate people spamming threads.

Ryan, your comments and suggestion above are good. I've considered upgrading to a paid membership; however, this issue should be resolved.

Moderators or Blade Forum owner, can you comment or correct the interpretation and then enforce it?
Thank you,
Jeff Haning
