Exciting find

I have two old machetes that I picked up on the side of the road years ago while I was biking. I decided today to clean them up as I am going to put at least one of them into regular circulation. Underneath all of the rust, I found out that I am the proud owner of 2 24" Tramontina machetes. All I have ever heard is praise of these blades. So this is definitely an exciting find. Now it's time to find rust remover, something to restore the blades and new sheaths...hopefully of the Kydex breed...

sounds like a good find,

you have had them sitting around all this time and never even checked to see if they were good? i can never even wait to get home to start checking things out when i buy them...imagine free machetes!

by the way, i hear that kerosene does a fine job taking off rust...

Nothing beats free:D

This thread made me run out to my garage and see what kind of machete I have. It was in pretty good shape, I acquired it from the garage of my first home (previous owners left it). At any rate, I couldn't find it; so, I thought of the last time I used it. I used it last when I was splitting some decorative grasses (machetes are excellent for splitting root balls). Anyway, I found my beloved machete in a bush, now all rusty:mad::mad::mad:, I failed to return it to my garage.

It is a GAVILAN DE INCOLMA COLOMBIA with a 22" blade and an eagle logo. Is this a good one?

Actually, I have used them repeatedly, I just never looked at them up close. I am still young, so a few years ago puts me in high school. I had much better,(and taller, blonder with better legs) things on my mind...
