Exciting News From The Busse Custom Shop

We are ready to re-open the Custom Shop Books on a limited basis. While not all options available years ago are returning, we will offer some custom shop options again.

These options will be based on the availability of parts and machine time if applicable and will be performed at our discretion. We will not make modifications that compromise the structural integrity of the knife.

We will allow handle changes on older models, provided we have the necessary handles or tooling. If handles and or tooling are no longer available we may be able to offer a hand-shaped handle option.

You will now be able to have liners added to your handles as well. This will depend on material availability. Adding liners to an older model may also require recoating or blade refinishing to ensure proper handle fit.

We will also offer recoating for coated blades and blade refinishing, such as cleaning up a scratched satin finish or re-stone washing. Touching up satin or stonewashed finishes may fade original logos. Older laser logos may not be able to be reapplied. Certain finishes may not be available on all models.

You can have custom handle materials used to rehandle blades. This may include stabilized woods, exotic materials or odd variations of g10 or micarta based on availability. Some custom handle materials require a liner or may require solid pins instead of flared handle tubes.

You can also request variant grinding. This is subject to your request fitting your blade. Certain grind variants are not available on all blades.

There will be a minimum charge of $75.00 plus shipping for custom work. We will provide a quote before starting work. The customer must agree to the quote, and a 50% down payment is required before any work begins. The balance is due before return shipping. You are responsible for shipping costs to and from the Busse Combat Custom Shop.

Due to the vast differences in time frames, we will provide a best guess time estimate but completion times may vary based on complexity and material availability.

We will not recreate discontinued blades, but we will modify older models you already own. We will not modify blades from any company other than those in the Busse Knife Group.

Any custom work is subject to the discretion of the Busse Custom Shop. We reserve the right to decide what custom work we perform at any time. Custom Shop work is also subject to suspension at any time based on time constraints or production workload.

If you are interested in having the Busse Custom Shop modify your blades or place a custom order contact me via email at garth@bussecombat.com for information and a quote.

Way cool to see this come back!!!

You mentioned a lot about how models can be modified, but are you guys open to making custom one-off knives of our own design, subject of course to your discretion, or are modifications the only things you're taking on at this time?

Awsome!
I have i feeling this is gonna cost me some money!
New handles and liners is very cool! The refinishing will be cool if i decide to retire one of my busse or kin. Right now im digging the scratches! They them easier to use! Now knowing I can have them touched up and add options while its having a spa day. Makes it alot easier to use them!
Could swedges be sharpened or added to some model?

Making a blade of the customers design has indeed happened a long time ago.

The Chuckete is a prime example.

so is the Dragon Fang (look it up)

So It Does not hurt to ask.

I did not see anywhere, where it is stated they would not make a knife of your design.

I am pretty 1000% sure They absolutely will not copy a knife makers design.
That is an honor thing.

But Again I do not work directly for Busse Combat Knife Co. so I can not speak in absolutes .................no one can except Garth Or Jerry.

anything said by anyone else, is pure speculation.

@Garth Reckner
Will there be a bolt option for new purchases as well as old?

The number of blades I want to send in to be convexed and/or swedged is getting silly. You may want to see if you can put together a standard service price list, maybe based on blade size or such. Just to cut down on the email inquiries.
