Exclusive!!! A bunch of new Spyderco Designs

I don't have a Spyderfly but that first picture looked like a real Spyder to me. Except for the oversized logo that is.

Counterfeit models are becoming becoming a bigger and bigger problem, especially in my neck of the woods (the Philippines, Asia in general) what is sad is that many people do not know that what they are buying are not the real deal... all that they see (or want to) is the price. But those prices are ridiculous and any Spyderco fan will know that they are fake.

What frustrates me the most are the individual sellers who claim the models are real and they do so because it came from the States. And the prices that they sell it here are almost as expensive as the real thing!

I hope this doesn't sound too heartless, but I have absolutely no sympathy for people that buy junk, and have it fail just when they need it most.

IMHO, the guy that won't pay over $25 for a knife, but willingly pays $40 for a bottle of whiskey gets no tears from me when his POS breaks "way out in the back country." :grumpy:

I don't know about buyers there not knowing they are buying copies. Although I am also from there, I live in the USA and go home every year. from what I have seen, the copies are being sold in flea market style places like GreenHills, etc. where fakes are very abundant and flagrantly sold as fakes. Are these sold in more reputable sporting goods store also? I sure would like to know. Thanks.

But, what can be done? They are in China! Will the Chinese government even respond to complaints about them?

Actually Spyderco has a better shot than most for dealing with the Chinese government because they have factories in China and are very helpful in teaching them how to make quality products.

I noticed they copywrited the photo to another company!

Over all length is about 8 3/4 inches (22.2cm). Blade length is about 3 3/4 inches (9.5cm). Handle length is about 5 inches (12.7cm). The knife is held together with torx screws. The handle is some type of carbon looking material. Comes with belt clip. Ambidextrous thumb stud.Walker liner locking system. Heavy duty and high quality.

Notice the bold. Lol.

This is partially true, there are people that know that they are buying fakes and don't have any sympathy for them either. My complaint is for the poor people who do not know any better, the people who are just Maybe Starting out with knives buy the fake cause they think its too good to be true (it usually is!) . anyways... back to the topic. and the individuals selling them off as the real thing... lets not even go there.....:mad:

the bigger stores do not usually carry the fakes, it is true that they are carried in the bazaar type of stores, and the individuals selling them, havent seen any fakes in Greenhills believe it or not....

Yes. Almost had a falling out with an owner of a knife shop because I was sold a fake benchmade stryker. They told me it was a factory second but they had three big boxes of them and selling them for a fraction of the price of the real thing.

The key to not getting duped is education from forums like this and your willingness to research a particular knife you want.

Exercise caution when buying Benchmades, Emerson, Crkt, Boker and Cold Steel knives. I find those are the most widely circulated around here. Never seen those Spydercos yet and I have been around Manila stores and the flea markets.
