I've seen plenty of people here post pics of their collections of a particular knife. And I've seen many post all the different variations of a knife that they have. Let's say you collect Para-Military 2's, how important is it for you to get all the dealer exclusives? Or do you just concentrate on the models that the dealer puts out?

It all depends on how big of a fan you are I guess. I will buy a few here and there that are exclusives, but I try not to buy into the hype. I only buy if I really want it and have no desire to shelf queen.
It appears the majority just buy to flip at secondary market prices and few actual collectors. :thumbdn:

Different people collect different things. Some thoughts from what I've seen and done over the years.
Some people care about the steel more than the model,
Some people care about the specific model/color more than the steel.
Some people care more about a specific brand than anything else and will buy as many of that brands exclusives, regardless of where they are sold.

That said, I collect the some Spyderco and ZT variants mostly, but it's hard to keep on top of them all unless you have a specific system. For a long time, it was very easy to get any sprint if you did your due diligence ahead of time, it's gotten a bit tougher for me specifically as I am not available when things "Go Live" on sale. By the time I get try and order one, there are nothing but cobwebs. Other hobbies also get time and funds diverted so there is always that. It does seem that the sprints are now mostly fodder for flipper to try and make some extra cash off the collectors. Although I'm quite sure that there are several people out there that will disagree and start their "Free Market" chanting and ranting. If it walks like a duck though...

If it walks like a duck or chants 'catch and release' or bitches like hell about the ordering system or is totally frustrated because he can ONLY buy 4 sprints...........it's a damn flipper!! NOT a duck Rev!!

I collect models I really like, such as the PM2, and have one of each steel type that it's been released in (except S30V ironically), but I don't usually buy a new sprint if it's a steel I already have, for example the 2 recent (bought the jade) versions of M4, or the black coated and satin version of the orange CTS-XHP PM2, ect.

For me it depends on the sum of all the parts.
M4, Love it... PM 2 handle/blade ratio, not for me. Though my ZT 770cfM4 is Fantastic when De-assisted.
52100, Love it... Military, not a fan of tip down/clip placement.
Cruwear, Love it... Manix 2, Love the ergos, clip placement, sturdy build and I Absolutely Love my Manix 2 Cruwear sprint.
Carbon Fiber scales, Love them if the ergos offer the control that the slickness of the material detracts from. Take the ZT 770cfM4 for example, slick scales but Fantastic in hand so it feels like it belongs there and doesn't slide around or feel "iffy".
