Exclusives

I like the diversity it brings to models that we already know we like. I suspect it lets them get more creative with specific combos, knowing a specific retailer will buy them all. Example: I doubt they would’ve made a PM2 in Cru-wear and purple G10, which happened to be exactly what I wanted. DLT had the exclusive and eventually sold them all.

It would be the same as when Ford began making cars...you could have it in black or black. Boring.
Sorry op my opinion. My high school car was a '29..black

Sometimes exclusives objectively improve on an already good knife. I'm a big fan of the humble QSP Penguin, but D2 requires care in Louisiana's humidity. Spotted an exclusive Penguin in M390 for $70 and snatched it up. No more rust worries using it in the garden & the thing stays sharp longer than my D2 Penguin. The only other exclusive I have is a Kizer Sheepdog in coated 10v. Doubt I would've had the chance to try 10v if that exclusive wasn't offered. Not what I'd use for an outdoor knife but it chuckles at cardboard & annoying plastic packaging.

Not a bid deal to me. I rarely dip my feet into the exclusive runs tho. I did buy the DLT Endela 20CV ($110) and KnifeJoy Endura 20CV. ($115) . I was very glad to see of my favorite knives get 20CV. Prices were very reasonable too imo.

PS. I've never paid more than $160 or so for a knife. So I dabble at the "lower end" of the knife world.
I ve also been buying less expensive high value knives for the last few years.

I got the two knives you mentioned. The Endura was one of my main work knives for several years, and I m currently edc ing the Knifejoy model with 20cv.

If exclusives weren't t in high demand, they would disappear.

I only dislike exclusives because I am in the EU and usually can't buy them unless I go to ebay. I do like sprint runs tho.
