Expanding drum source (cheap?)

I'm finishing my second blade, and have reached the point when you start thinking about making a belt sander. All the sources I can find for wheels range in price from $75 to $125 for 1.5" versions.
Is that about the going rate, or does anyone have a better source?

I have a 1/3hp 1725rpm motor and decent fabbing skills so I want to try this on my own.
Making blades is addictive... you can always do just a little better next time:)

I have an expanding drum from Rio-Grande. Its a 3" wide soft wheel and you can put very fine grits on it for blending and fine finishes on convex surfaces. It does a nice job within its capabilities. Its too wide to use on blades.

I guess I asked about the wrong part. I want to build a belt grinder, so I need the appropriate wheels. Two wheel would be fine to start off I think.
