Expedition africa

I enjoy watching the show because I have always wanted to visit Africa. The drama crap is all for ratings as usual per reality tv. I'm sure the 4 people got along fine and five minutes of bickering were edited to make it seem like it lasted all day. I also would not be surprised if Benedict was unable to make a fire just to add drama to the episode. As soon as the camera shut off he probably pulled out a bic lighter and sparked up some tinder and threw breakfast in a pot!

Of course I would love to know what blades the 4 are carrying, especially Mireya? since I noticed on the last episode that she was carrying a large fixed blade.
 
I just caught up with the show on "On Demand". I watched both episodes. I would imagine that if you threw a few confident personalities together for the first time, there would be some "settleing of the differences" pretty quickly. I didn't mind most of the interaction, especially when you could just ignore it and look at the gear, and surrounding country side. I'm interested and will catch the rest when I've got time.
 
I tried pausing my DVR while benedict was scraping charcoal with his small fixed blade and it looked like it had a double edge with one side serrated. I may be wrong as it was a very brief shot.
 
They didn't have a water filter and water treatment. They didn't even have firestarters other than the ferro rod. With all the things they're carrying they couldn't stuff lighters and matches or a bakcpacking stove in there somewhere. These things don't take up that much space and they have help carrying their things anyway. They don't even carry their backpacks properly:rolleyes:. I know these people know better. What frustrates me is that they don't do the simple things right when I know they know better.:grumpy:
