Expense vs. Use

Some people purchase and use top quality tools. Some people purchase and use any old tool they find at the flea market. One man's ceiling is another man's floor. etc.etc.

Simply put, I wouldn't buy any knife I didn't intend to carry and use. I don't think I have any that cost more then $40. At some point I DO want to get a nice GEC. But most of my discretionary cash (and there aint much) goes to music gear. YMMV.

I don't buy things that I don't intend on using. Guns, knives, whatever. In fact, I don't even want to own anything I don't have a real use for, or will serve some purpose in my real world life.

Carl.

I am struggling with this concept, rapidly changing from a knife user to a knife collector. I already own more knives than I can reasonably use in one lifetime, and I want more! Hanging out at Bladeforums, of course, does not help.

Aye, there's a fact.

I use the ones I like and feel good in the hand, unfortunately no picture can tell you that. (I try to get duplicates of knives I particularly like as loss is a constant possible) Other knives that are good or high quality but just don't do it for me, will eventually be swapped. So it goes on:D

If I had vintage knives or mint rarities (where's the cash for that??) I would likely not use them, for posterity's sake. In fantasy land, if somebody in England unearthed a long lost chest of Sheffield pocket knives c.1910 several dozens of them I be using them and nothing else We should all dream, often.:)

Regards, Will
