Expensive knives that look significantly cheaper than their actual price?

I used to have an orange LST. I miss that knife.

I've got a great one for this topic:

Andre de Villiers "Alien." $620 bucks.

By the way, has anyone ever seen a photo of an ADV "work in progress," or any shop photos? Basically, anything at all to actually indicate that his knives are being made in South Africa? Just curious.

Back on the subject, i had shown once this knife to my brother’s friend. He thought it was max around $250. I was like, are you kidding? What blasphemy are you blabbering?!

Some of my colleagues, when i talked about my hobby, they thought im crazy to spend $300 or $500 on a knife, let alone a thousand knife. They show me their SAK and i said that's cute.

I think when you haven't dove in this hobby of ours, they would understand the real value.

That still looks expensive and most WH knives are pretty expensive for what they are. Don't get me wrong, I still like them, had one similar to that that I actually bought in a jewelry store where I buy most of my watches. I still have a couple of WH's that don't look as expensive but because WH makes small runs of some of their models and then may never make them again, they become rare and that drives the price up. Like these attache models that I have. It is a similar situation to the watch in this picture. It is a Seiko that is normally only sold in Japan, and costs $2500.

That’s what also makes them so attractive... the fear of missing out :(

There's a few pretty plain knives out there that are connected with a name which skyrockets the price.
That Ray Mears(Les Stroud??) bushcrafty thing that went for I-want-to-say $500 comes to mind...

some hipster could be wearing a pair of bespoke skinny jeans worth hundreds of dollars and I wouldn't know. People are not into knives, they really won't know the price ranges and materials or brands involved. But they might learn and fall down the rabbit hole.

Well, that's just the point. Nearly everybody has some sort of money hole that some others just "don't get". Sneakers, watches, camera gear, X-Box/Playstation games, gaming computers, car/truck upgrades, vape pens, weed, boats, booze, Pokemon, etc. Of course I scoff when I see someone in passing that spent an unfathomable amount of money on something, but that passes when I remember how much I've spent on knives and (recently) sunglasses.

My Shirogorov nudist is quite plain looking. I think non knife people would peg it under 100 bucks to look at it.

While there's very few people who would guess that (and even fewer who would understand why:confused:) this is a $1400 custom knife...I absolutely think it was worth every penny:D Zero regrets...in case there was any confusion ;)

Tracker Dan Bloodshark used to sold for $1,500+ on secondary market.

I'm sorry to sound like a d-bag, but that price makes no sense to me.
I know what it takes to make a custom blade. This is not even $800 worth of custom blade (assuming collectors drove up the aftermarket price), much less $1,500.

This one looks like a prison shank. $1,495

I'm familiar with Sawby's work, and quite honestly IMO, that's a bargain. I'm not naming names, but there're popular custom knives out there that are downright crude by comparison, and they fly off the maker's tables for twice the price.
