According to a friend of mine the tangs on the blades of the Schrade Bowies (ie like the Pearl Harbour Bowie) were more evident because the blades were over polished around the tang which tended to roll the edges and get rid of the hard edges on both sides near the tang.

This knife below is a Schrade except for the crossguard and pommel which were cast by Aurum Etchings Jewelry Division in 1974. The knife was designed by Blackie Colins made by Schrade for Smith & Wesson, it doesnt loose its true origins just because it has another name on it.

Mr. Russell,Many instances previous.Without wishing to prolong the negatives to get back to the positives of this Forum recent examples, on the J.C.Higgins Marine knife thread I am accused of 'showing off' by putting Schrade photos on this forum and there has been much controversy over the purported Cut.Co. Calendar knife and to put photos of that knife on this forum will surely cause more angst/anxiety for reasons I do not understand so it is to be displayed on Larry Vickery's Schrade site.<Threads 'A currently active auction' which had to be closed and Calendar knife provenance refer>

Well I can only speak for myself but all the controversy only makes it all the more interesting to read.

As far as showing off, its great to show off on the forum, I thought that was exactly what the forum was for. Although I do recognise it most likely was not originally intended as a compliment by the rude person remarks of the person.

Dont worry Im sure there are many more of us who want see and hear what you have to say about Schrades.
Kind Regards Tim

Larry,

Any Scharde photographs out there were made for advertizing or promotion and are therefore in the public domain.

I am sure those objecting mean well, but, they need to talk to an attourny before jumping on you.

We protect our photos only from those who want to use them to compete with us.

Mr. Russell, the photos he is referring to are his own, taken by him of knives in his collection. It took us quite some time to convince him to show us his collection. And recently, he has been given insults and grief over his willingness to share them with us, mostly from troll posters who seem to suffer from the "small soldier syndrome".

And the other instance being referred to involves his purchase of a certain knife of uncertain heritage (uncertain based solely on poor eBay pictures). A few members here took it upon themselves to get an opinion of it's authenticity on another forum, leading to a dustup of sorts among otherwise well-meaning collectors.

I am hoping Larry will just ignore the static and continue to share his collection with us here. It is rather expansive and covers a great span of time of Imperial Schrade and it's predecessor companies. Some of the pieces are one-of-a-kind like the original 3OT, and the Herman Williams knives. Many have original packaging giving us important information we would not otherwise have access to.

Larry,

I am sorry, I cannot use PMs my email is agr@agr3.com .

any one can use our photos on the forums, the only persons forbidden to use our photos are those persons competing with us in the sales of new knives.

Larry,

I'm glad and very grateful that you are "showing off" your knives. Heck, if I had them, I would be showing off them every chance I had.

As to the other incident, like I said earlier, it's your purchase and your knife. Thus, it should be nobody's business.

Jackie
