Experience with Nessmuks and Kydex?

Hi All,
When it comes to nessmuk knives, I've gathered that leather sheaths are much more popular (and practical?) than kydex. Is this a result of the wider front portion of the blade being difficult to get in and out of a molded kydex sheath? I've made a few kydex sheaths, but not for a nessmuk. Can I go about it the same way as with a more uniform width blade and still have a smooth draw and entry? do I need to shape an a piece of wood and attach to the spine to straighten the "dip" and make a more accommodating entry channel for the blade? Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've made kydex sheaths for 2 blind horse muks that I own. Unfortunately I don't have them with me currently but I believe a slight angle makes the blade draw more easily. The curve of the blade caused the edge to bind against the sheath when attempting to draw with a straight out motion. It wasn't anything too difficult to overcome, those were my first attempts at kydex sheaths and they both work well.

When i make nessmuk sheaths I get a piece of micarta thats the same thickness and shape it to fill in the space along the spine. Then i just tape it to the blade and mold. Its worked very well for me in my experience.

it sounds like straightening out the spine while molding the kydex is my best bet. Thanks for the replies! I'll try to get on it tomorrow and share how it came out.

apologies for bringing back this old thread. I wanted to share how the finished sheath turned out, as maybe it will help someone someday down the road. What I ended up doing was making an insert which straightened out the curve in the spine, thus allowing for easier in/out. I taped it into place as I was taping up the blade in preparation to mold the sheath. I also cut out a portion on the back of the sheath to allow a more direct and open route to the modified portion of the blade channel. It ended up working pretty well. Thanks for the help and input. Here is a pic of the knife and sheath, the curves aren't as extreme as some nessmuks
