Experienced Blade Grinder and Knife maker wanted:
Do you have experience hollow and flat grinding blades? Do you enjoy designing, grinding, and building custom and semi-custom knives? Would you be interested in working in a production shop with a small group of guys that are passionate about producing exceptional fixed blade and folding knives? SILVER STAG knife company (Blaine, WA) is an established cutlery manufacturing company and niche brand and would like to add an experienced blade grinder & knife maker to our production team.
Production summary:
All though our production team builds small batches of custom knives to field test and sell factory direct on the company’s website, the SILVER STAG product line would be classified as semi-custom. In summary, our team uses CAD software to design our cutlery and folder components. The CAD files are then transferred to our CNC fiber laser machine to cut the blade and part profiles from high carbon sheet plates. The profiled blanks and parts are then CNC surface ground to remove the mill scale from the profiled flats. The balance of the manufacturing process is primarily preformed free hand. We use Bader grinders to hollow or flat grind our blade blanks. The company primarily incorporates north American antler or hardwoods into the finished designs, and the assembly, finish work, and sharpening is performed free-hand. The company builds approximately 20 thousand SILVER STAG knives annually, and the product line is distributed through key industry accounts, sporting good and specialty retailers, and sold factory direct on the company’s ecommerce website.
Compensation summary:
The starting salary for an experienced blade grinder is 65K. In addition, the company pays a quarterly bonus, offers 16 days of paid vacation, and all major holidays are paid off. After six months of full-time employment, the company pays or subsidizes medical insurance.
To keep up with demand, the company would also consider subbing out a portion of our blade grinding to an experienced individual that would like additional income and consistent monthly business.
Requirements for consideration:
To be considered for a full-time position, you must have a history of stable employment, blade grinding and knife making experience, in addition to a high level of attention to detail.
A great work environment:
This is a great opportunity to work in a fun and creative environment with a small team of patriots that enjoy working with their hands to build exceptional finished product. In addition, a company that respects, appreciates, and rewards team members for their contributions and strong work ethic.
If you are interested in applying for a full-time position, or interested in grinding blades for the company, please email your resume to Linde @ info@silverstag.com.
