I've only ground three blades from 52100 so far, but I see no reason not to use it, assuming one has pro-level HT available. From a stock-removal POV, it's just as easy to work with as other carbon steels. It has very good toughness and better edge-retention than 1095, takes a nice fine edge easily, and is less likely to tarnish/rust than O1. It's good stuff as far as I can tell. Now that it's available in flat stock as well as rounds and spheres (old bearings), I predict we'll be seeing even more knives in 52100.
