Experimental Project

Wow, that turned out really nice! What are you going to do with the Ti side? Natural? Anodize?

Thanks! I may anodize it, still not sure yet. I can that is for sure! :D It is textured like I do all of my Titanium.

It's hard to see but all the edges have been chamfered for comfort. This one is a left hand grind.

Looks good!

I've made a few of these over the years but I've yet to try the G-Flex. One thing I've noticed is that when the adhesive bond fails it is almost always at the tip where it fails first. So if you want to do a test to see how well it holds press the tip against some wood with the G10 facing the wood...as if you are trying to peel the Ti. off. Some glues pop instantly, some hold pretty well.

Much appreciated! Thanks very much for the tip, I went out and tried it... it was scary but it went great.! The knife is solid! :D

If you don't mind me asking what adhesives have you had good luck with?

I was pretty sure the G-Flex would work after my testing, a large sledgehammer would not remove the scales with sheer force!

Dan, Could you use some more of the speclked rubber ?.........carl..........Ps....I may be out your way in 5 weeks................................................

Hey Carl! Let me think on that rubber, it was great material I know that.

Wicked/clever idea! That's really cool looking!

Thanks! I'm very excited about it, I have been wanting to try this for months.

That sure looks great!

You could do it with tan or camo or black G10 and with matching kydex they'd be a perfect tool for military! Thin & light, non reflective and blending with uniform/armor!

Hmm, lefty grind, huh? On a purely scientific basis, I'd be willing to put that baby through it's paces and report back from the lefty point of view.... all in the name of product development :D:D:D

That sounds too cool! I like the idea, I may try that on the next ones.

:D :D :D

I signed this one yesterday and will anodize and carbidize it soon!

I 2nd that!!! Daniel, If I made a custom order, can you do lefty grinds on all of your knives? have you done much testing on this one yet?

Custom Orders - I currently have about a one year backlog so I stopped taking custom orders, if I do start again yes I can do lefty grinds

Testing - a little bit... some light flex testing and pressure on the Ti tip in effort to break the lamination. So far, so good!

I need to make a really simple version and try to break it, I just can't bear to on this one! I know it is strong enough for normal use but I would like to know where the breaking point is, everything will break with enough force.

bummer for me on the wait list but that just means you are doing it right.congrads on the lamination holding. If you get drunk and grind one backwards let me know HAHA

Thanks!

I am doing a destruction test with this one to test the strength and breaking point of the laminate. I have already used it a bit and it is holding up very well.

I'll do more of these for sure, I want to do them in different colors of G10. I really like the knife a lot, it feels great in the hand, substantial and light as can be.

Yo, you need to do a run of these (right handed grind of course this time :D), 13 of them maybe 15... Pretty much keep this design and the ghost jade g10 the staple. Offer options of g10, and options of scalloped handles or non scalloped.. and keep it simple :) Keep us posted when this will happen :) cheers!
