Expert opinions please, can this be fixed easily?

I just received a knife I purchased from another member. When I inspected the blade I found nicks on the blade edge near the tip, and one in the middle. Hard to see but very easy to feel with a fingernail.

I'm not sure what can be fixed easily concerning nicks in the blade edge, but do you guys think this is an easy fix? I'm kinda bummed because I specifically asked if there were any nicks in the edge because I thought I saw some in the ad that was posted but he said there wasn't. I'm not looking to trash anyone, just an honest opinion on whether it can be fixed or is it even worth fixing...

From the ad. I thought I could see some shadows that could be nicks near the tip.

CRK sharpens knives for free if you dont know how to sharpen yourself. He will also resandblast the handels for you to make it look like new free. All you have to do is pay shipping fees.. But If the guy said there was no nicks or was not used i'd be bummed to. A sharpening by Chris Reeve will fix it however note you will pay 30$ shipping and also have a few weeks waiting time.
Easy fix!

I would send the person you bought it from to pay for it the shipping to have it fixed, and then send it to CRK and have them do a proper fix.

Oh sweet!

I was worried it would be hard to fix without taking off too much of the edge of the blade. When I asked the seller he thought I was talking about the spine of the blade, not the edge. So we had a little miscommunication, that's all. I'm gonna see if we can work it out as I'd like to keep it, we share the same b-day..lol

I dont know too much about sharpening, but that looks pretty easy to fix...almost looks like it can be stropped out?

I would have a serious problem with the seller's representation. This should be on him to make right since you specifically addressed the issue before hand. Disappointing someone here would do that.

My eyes aren't good enough to see them in the small photos and I am not getting them to enlarge-with that said. Look at them under a magnifying glass- sometimes they are rolls not nicks. Rolls come out very easily with a steel. Presuming they are nicks you have a few choices - leave them and sharpen them out with time, sharpen them out now, or send them to CRK to sharpen out. If it is a good seller he or she should settle with you to some extent since they weren't mentioned. I personally would pay for the CRK shipping and have done this before when I missed something, but it doesn't make for a very profitable sale-so he might balk on that.

From looking at the picture it should sharpen right out, but as Peter says you might be able to clean it up with a steel or strop.

See if the seller sharpened it and at what angle he used. It looks like it was re profiled a bit. If he doesn't know, use a sharpie to determine the correct angle. Once you have it re sharpened, check for the nicks. They should be gone or significantly smaller. You can add a micro bevel to remove them thus taking off the minimum amount of steel.

Actually we worked it out. He's refunding the amount it will cost to send it to CRK for a sharpening. I think it will be ok....thanks for the advice!

That's what I like to see, people working it out like gentlemen (or women). Thanks for sharing and thanks to the seller for stepping up on this.

Glad you worked it out! CRK will take care of you and when you get it back it will be a good as new.

There are loads of good sellers when all goes well. It is when there is a problem that the good ones shine. Glad this worked out & CRK should take care of you with a nice factory edge, lube and inspection.

I can't even see them! I'm looking on my
Phone so maybe that's why.

But, I have done what you are describing to my Sebs before, and they were easily sharpened out.

I wouldn't trust my sharpening skills yet on this knife!...lol. I've been practicing with some older knives and reworked a couple of them using my Lansky setup, but I am by no means on the same level of some of you guys! That's not to say I can't get an edge on something, all of my knives are pretty darn sharp and so far once sharpened all I need to do is strop them a little. But since this was a higher end knife I didn't want to muck it up. Hopefully it doesn't take too long for them to work on it...
