I've said it before and I'll say it again. I absolutely love your threads and pics. Glad to see your daughter's hand healed up well and that is a very nice knife. Thanks for sharing.
I'm in that boat now. I find it fun to learn together and for the younger people to see how you look stuff up whether it be a plant, tree, rock, snake and so forth. I have forgot most of what I have learned about plants. You have to keep getting out and doing it to keep fresh.
Nice knife. Cute kid. Very interesting wedding ring.![]()
nice pics, brian! i like orange as well so two-thumbs up on that knife
i notice a ribbing effect on your daughter's firesteel. it happens to my firesteels once in awhile too and prevents a smooth striking action and sometimes hinders getting good sparks...i found that a few seconds with a belt sander or a file will flatten the ribs out fast and produce lots of spark from that area again. before filing it flat, i tried just repeatedly striking that area in hopes of flattening it out but it seems like it makes the ribbing more pronounced.

You're a lucky dad and she's a lucky daughter! Thanks for this story and great pics.

Beautiful photography and excellent knife. The Yuma is my favorite fixed blade.
