These blocks were cut from one of the biggest maple burls we have ever seen a few years ago. (Over 4000 lbs) This portion of the burl is called Redheart. It was from the center of the burl where there was unusual colors and the figure was a lot different than the outside of the burl. The wood was harder in that area as well. I cut these extra large because I thought this sort of figure wood look best on a large bowie or fighter style knife.
These blocks are natural wood. They are not stabilized. There have been some requests from some of you guys who do your own stabilizing, so these are for you. Redheart Maple Burl is a good hard wood that should not require stabilizing.

Photos show the wood lightly misted with water so you can get an idea how they will look finished. A couple pieces have holes that I did not trim away. They are easily seen in the photos.
