Today I received the EXTRA-LARGE Cold Steel Gunsite Folder that I bought from a fellow Forumite, and I gotta say that this knife IS HUGE!, but due to its' light-weight, and balance, it feels GREAT in my hand!.

I put it, locked open, next to my CS Tanto, and this Gunsite Folder, isn't all THAT much smaller!.

(Now when I have to go someplace that I can't pack one of my Glocks to, I WON'T feel "un-armed"!.

Hey, Glockman, did you get the new version or the old one? The new version has the metal pocket clip and the old one has the integrated zytel clip. I have two medium voyagers in the old style, and I love them. I don't know why they changed the clip style, I guess because every other knife company's folders has metal clips, but I have never had a problem with mine. And I hit it on shelving, ladders, you-name-it, at work all of the time. If you have the new style, I'm curious, do the screws just go into the zytel, or are there metal inserts? I also have the 3" El Lobo (neat little knife) and it has the metal clip, but the screws go into the zytel. I kinda afraid to carry it at work for fear that I will tear the clip off. Thats why I love my voyagers so much, if you hit the zytel clip, it just rebounds from the blow, but the metal clips on my spydercos get bent and twisted around. (FYI, I work in an auto parts store, and the shelving goes almost all the way to the ceiling, with a very narrow walkway between, so trying to squeeze past ladders sitting in the aisle, I end up hitting the clip at least once a day). I don't worry about my delica because the way spyderco designed the clip, I can just bend it back and put it back on. It tears up the little square hole it sits in, but hey, just tighten the screw back down and it stays until the next time I hit it. But if I tear out the clip on my El Lobo, I'm afraid that that will be it for that knife. Just curious.

Thanks,
Flinx

Flinx,

I got one of the "old-style" CS Gunsites. I REALLY like this knife! So much, that in fact, I'm now looking for a 4 inch Gunsite.

I also have one of those El Hombre, (the 4 inch "plain" blade version of your El Lobo) with the metal pocket-clip, but I really don't worry about the clip tearing-off, as it seems to be anchored pretty well.

Glad you like that knife Dann!
If you REALLY like 5 incher, chances are you'll really REALLY like the smaller version.

Not to take anything away from the XLGS. You know as well as I how manageable and light it is for it's size. The 4 incher is just that much more handy.

I have the smaller old-style Gunsite around here someplace.....

I have 5" Gunsite. . .love it! and carry it everyday.
I have 4" Gunsite. . .love it!
I have 4" Tanto Voyager. . .love it!

I, also prefer the old style handle. . .I have 5" Voyager with new metal clip. . .don't like it.

I think I prefer the old style plastic clip on the 5 inch, and the new style metal clip on the smaller versions. My 5 inchers ride in my pockets just fine with the plastic clips. But, for some reason, my 4 inchers don't. However, the metal clip does a much better job of keeping them in my pockets.

Broke the plastic clip on my 4" gunsite folder walking through a doorway.

I definately did like the design of the Zytel clip, because it gave you a lot to hang on to for a one hand snap open.

I do also like the positive nature of the metal clip - almost too positive

But it's a lot less to hold on to.
