We're doing a run of some long knives here and there are a couple steps in our process where the standard 8" KMG platen is too short so I went ahead and made a few extra long KMG compatible C plates to fit a TW90 size platen, which is 10" with 8" center to center mounting holes. I've gotten by for a long time without one of these just fine, so unless there is something about your process that requires a long platen you probably don't need this. If you just need a well made accurate C plate in the standard dimensions look at my other sale here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...n-attachment-c-plates-and-other-stuff.1555503
10" C plate, with axle spindle hardware $95 (qty 25)
10" flat platen in hardened D2 steel with 8" center to center 1/4-20 mounting holes $100 (not shown, it looks like a piece of metal with two mounting holes in it) (qty 10)
10" water cooled platen chiller (you probably don't need one of these) $70
Shipping $15
This is an accurately made piece, but to get the benefits of a properly machined platen you need your wheels on straight. This might confuse things, but for this sale the price includes this axle hardware (it wasn't included in the other C plate sale) but if for some reason you don't want it you can ask for it without and reduce the price by $20. I don't suggest you skimp here, the hardware that comes with the KMG is garbage and causes all kinds of tracking and wheel wear issues, the hardware I'm providing is top of the line.
So here's the deal, if you happen to need an extra long flat grinding setup for your KMG this will be a nice piece for you. I made some extra flat platens while I was at it, but these are pretty expensive and I expect most of you will simply make your own. Also available are the aluminum platen chillers made to the TW90 dimensions that will fit this if for some reason you need your flat platen chilled (some people do) but for most people this isn't necessary with normal flat grinding. Information about the chiller and its use can be found on this old sales thread: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/tw-90-radius-platens-platen-chillers-flat-platens.1216606/
If you would like to order something here, I need you to please follow these instructions to help me keep up with everything (otherwise folks will fall through the cracks).
1: State your claim in this thread.
2: send me an email (not a private message) carothersknives at gmail dought com
The email should include what you are buying, your BladeForums handle (i.e.: "Nathan the Machinist"), your actual name, your shipping address and your paypal email address.
The email should clearly state you're ordering a 10" C plate, because we're also running a sale on the standard 8" C plate and the confusion this is going to cause Jo is going to lead to marital discord.
Jo will send a PayPal invoice to that email.
3. Pay the paypal invoice. Once it is paid, I will ship your order to the name and address you gave in your order email.
If you don't want to use paypal, we can arrange to send a check.
Quantities are limited, sales are based upon first come first serve who posts their order in this thread. I have to do it this way to keep things sane.
