I have recently ordered a MOD Deiter CQD MKII Stealth. This is the smaller version of the MKI. I am still trying to figure out what is meant by "extraction ridges" in the knifes handle? What is their purpose?

I took it too mean raised sections on the knife's guards that aid in grip and traction. If you look at the to guards on front milled into the handle slabs, they have raised pressure points on them front and rear. This feature was carried over to the smaller knife, but its main use was on its larger brother that has a secondary cutting blade in the rear of the handle. With that blade your pulling through to make the cut, and the ridges might aid in traction in doing so. The other thing is if extracting the knife from waistband or sheath, these ridges would give you grip while doing so. Especially with gloves on. My best guess. I just bought the large MOD Dieter and as a tactical knife it has no comparison and i own a few. Its large but on dark jeans disappears into the pockets well enough that nobody notices.

As one who has owned both and loved one, I can comment on the ridges as well.
"extraction ridges" are just that, they are used for extracting the knife from your pocket or more importantly from the Kydex sheaths that are sold as an option, which have a firm fit.
Mike990 makes a lot of additional and valid points for other uses as well.
One he left off was that they also help to keep your hand on the handle by providing a 360 degree ridge around the knife, no matter how you hold it your hand should not slide up onto the blade.
Next to the Sebenza the CQD MKII is by far the best production knife on the market right now, IMNSHO. It has it all, great quality, great lock, great look, perfect blade size and awesome gadget factor. At roughly 1/2 the price of the Sebenza it's a real winner.

On Friday, when my new CQD's grip-tape insert started to shift a bit, I called their number. Ten minutes and no charge later, a whole set of completely new inserts are in the mail. (Although I haven't received it yet, it IS only Monday... )
An apology, no whining or excuses. Just a suggestion that I could fix it with a heat gun, AND that the new inserts are in the mail.
When I called CRK about whether the Sebbie could switch to tip-down, I got a very curt, abrupt rep who told me "Chris didn't design it that way and he doesn't want it that way, so you shouldn't do it."
Geez, now.
Unfortunately I still am lusting after the small sebbie -- I just have to find someone who can convert it to tip-down.
