Extrema Ratio - Adra

Holy smokes what a piece of sh*t I knew it!!

in defense of the adra..the tests were NOT good at showing what the knife was made for. Who chops 2x4's with a knife like that? who throws an expensive knife like that? who throws knives period?

I liked the tests he did for a couple reasons.

1) it actually chopped way better than I'd expect
2) it pointed out a pretty big flaw in the handle material they used

I mean, you wouldn't necessarily have to throw it to get the handle to break. You could probably do it by hitting stuff with the pommel or dropping it on concrete if it's going to just shatter when you throw it at wood. Granted he was doing it in cold weather, but let's not forget Extrema are the ones marketing their stuff as hardcore military/LEO equipment. For $400+ and that intended purpose, hell yeah I'd expect it to stand up to some abuse. At the very least not have the handle explode against a hard surface like a toy.

Having watched the kooky video, a couple points. The blade coating did not appear worn, it looked like the galvanized zinc plating from the metal wall stud became deposited on the blade. The handle failure is a serious issue. I would not trust this piece of gear in the field. I guess Extrema Ratio needs to spend less money on advertising, and more money on design/product testing. How dissapointing.
Still, it's very stabby looking and it would give someone a lot of pleasure as a collectible. I can dig that. Personally, at that price point...I'll pass.
Cudos to Nternal for finding and posting the video review!

I would suggest the extrema ratio col moschin over this knife because I own one and it's a nice knife that is full tang 1/4".
