Any good? I have never owned one, handled a few for a minute or 2 and shows. I have a few ER FBs all great. are they just another sharpened prybar type? I am specifically talking about the Fulcrum Tanto or spear, and the Nemisis in particular. Anyone own either? how is the edge? is it Obtuse, or reasonably sharp considering the thickness?

In the USA the Nemesis is called the Faida, because some other company copyrighted the Nemesis name. Any way I bought one about a year ago and really have not used it much. I think the blade is relatively sharp considering the thickness but it is not near the sharpest tool in the box. The lock is extremely strong and the knife is huge.

I've had a Nemesis for a while now, used it quite a bit, keep it handy. I found everything vjb.knife said pretty much my own experience. I like the knife a lot even if it isn't your ordinary EDC.

Very few knives are in this super-durable class.

I carry a Fulcrum II D and I love it much tougher than my Strider GB. It's also easier on my pocket than G-10. Cuts much better than they say in the review. Then again it wasn't meant to be a kitchen knife.

Iv got the MPC folder.
Its a super tough knife, no two ways. I dont use it too much but its a capable knife for just about anything.

The fixed blades are good too, I have a few of them and use them often.

I think if I'd gotten an MPC I'd be using it more than the Nemesis. I could even carry it in my Maxpedition MPB if I didn't get too confused by the TLA. *

* Three Letter Acronyms :)

i've had a fulcrum & a nemesis, i liked 'em a lot, wish i hadnt swapped the nemisis FWIW.

The Dark Ops Stratofighter is essentially the same thing as the ER MPC for about $220. Same blade design and same steel. They're not made to slice tomatoes.

Yep, in one word a disgusting knock-off by a former employee with, going by some reports, more than sketchy QC. No thanks!

imho they are too large for carry unless you are already going to be carrying a lot of weight and stuff ala a police officer or military HOWEVER that is the only knock I can give them (and by them, I mean the 1 nemises I got to handle, of course they all look massive so forgive me for making this assumption) because they are incredibly solid as far as folders go and if I had a place for it I would absolutely go with it. that is the trade off though, you sacrifice lightweightedness but if you can manage the weight and bulk then absolutely do it.

I have an ER BF2, their idea of a "small" folder :D Beautiful lines, super strong lock, very solid. It is a largish piece of metal, quite thin but broad handle, rides in your pocket as low as possible. Sharpness out of the box was OK but not outstanding.

Negatives:
- the clip is too strong. Impossible to take the knife from the jeans pocket without actually lifting the pants.
- it is difficult to open by one hand. IMO the thumbstud is too close to the pivot. I have yet to find the correct vector for opening it easily.

All in all, it is a great knife but so far it has not made it to my EDC rotation.

My friend has an ER Rao. That is actually a huge fixed blade disguised as a folder. Carrying a similar sized real fixed blade would be lighter and easier than walking around with a Rao.

Best regards,
Akos

IIRC its the same as the nemisis not the MPC............

Nope, it look stikingly similar to the Nemi. Weather its a design rip off or not I would take an ER over a "dork oops" any day of the week.

Iv had quite a few ER knives, folders and fixed, they are amoung some of the best knives available IMO.

I would never own a dark ops knife on principle alone.

I baught a RAO and returned it the following day. There is a mistake in the design of the pivot of the blade. Quite dangerous...

i have seen both, they were really the same thing except for the "quartz impregnated gripping surface" or skateboard tape handles whatever ya wanna call it lol, its been a while but that all i remembered being different, other than the logo & such,

i have heard the dork ops knives can really vary as far as F&F go, the one i have seen was really pretty good imho, probably comparable to a ER, cant say they are all like that though, like i say i have only seen one.

i too would prefer the ER version,

its been my understanding that it was an out & out rip off of the design, the owner of dork ops used to be the north american distributor for ER and they fell out about something and he came out with DO shortly thereafter,

i havent seen any of the new stuff from ER............

I've been looking at the RAO.

What is the "mistake", for clarity?

I see an issue or two in the design, but the thickness of the materials may alleviate what I see.
