Here are some Busse mods in progress (see attached). The three knives are all the same model, being modded by Andrew Takach (atakach is his forum name).

The modification idea is a mix of his ideas and my own. I was inspired by his models and the models of Laci Szabo and Fred Perrin when I came up with the original modification blueprint. Andrew helped with the handle idea by changing the shape of the butt and also convinced me to keep the saber grinds on the blades - so they will have quite a bit more metal on the blade but will be convexed from the edge to the saber grind line.

All three blades were originally coated, and all dimples have been removed and a "rough satin" finish will be applied.

Approximately 3/4 of an inch has been removed from the handle length, putting the butt to a level above where the third fastener once was. The handle slabs were replaced with thin yet hand-shaped black linen micarta.

The front talon hole/guard was ground off and replaced with an index finger groove, compensating for the removal of back-end handle material and shifting the control point closer to the blade.

The top knife in the second pic is the closest to completion (you can see how the micarta on the other two needs further shaping).

More pics will be forthcoming.

Here's a pic of the handles. The top one is done and the bottom two have some shaping left to do.

Andrew likes to make each of his knives have its own personality, so they are all slightly different.

I'm pretty sure I know

I'm pretty sure you know, too.

These knives are hybrid fighter/utility blades. Easy to carry, lightweight, yet with significant slicing/slashing/stabbing power. Safety, maneuverability, and concealability are the focal points of this design.

Andrew! I need more teaser pics! All the rest of my pics are more revealing than I want them to be, at least until they are completed.

I need pics of the leather sheaths Andrew is making for them too. Hopefully his brain is getting more oxygen than usual as he will need it to put the finishing touches on these babies!

haha, oxygen,i think your the only one that'll get that one dan.

well, surely i aint getting nothing now, sitting back up here reading threads, but it's 12am here, so my night is early yet, gonna grab a bite to eat then go back to work. ill snap a few more pics tonight.

Please don't tell me you ground up 3 3-series knives.

I like the looks so far, but you ground off hte talon holes, the handle, the knife grind. At taht point, I wonder if you could have just stolen some INFI, had Andrew make you the knife you wanted and then bartered Jerry some JWB for the heat-treat. Might have been cheaper. LOL

WOW that's radical.

LOL! Serious grinding like that on finished INFI must be a bear. Garth told me that he hates to do it.

From what I've seen so far, all you're going to get ... are a lot of compliments.
