Diamond willow wood block 3.5 ounces. 4 ½ inches long x 2 ½ 2 wide x ½ 2 thick. A nice piece with two centers grown together. An unusual wood not normally seen on the market, local to interior Alaska. Off the Kantishna River. Bit thin to be split for fixed blade but could be for pocket knife or get two scales from the extra wide size. Dyed and stabilized twice with cactus juice. $30

Spending time in the shop the past week. High water, maybe flood due. Might be here with computer on top shelf, me sitting here in swim suit. Anxious to get out on the river in the boat. Too much drift wood going by, but the nice thing is al this wood to look over! Cant decide if I want to spend time listing, or time making up more product. Half an hour, got to go shut the kiln off on another batch.

Above is the homestead where I get much of my wood. 140 river miles from the nearest road.

The above is poplar. A little less showy, for those who would prefer lots of sheen without bright colors.

Above is more showy. I'm experimenting with ways to layer the colors.
Getting good penetration.

Above two is birds eye birch piece. $40
Anyhow spending the day at the computer waiting to flood out. Time to go empty the kiln and get a new batch of vacuum treated resin impregnated wood in the cooker.
These items can be seen and best to buy off the web site using pay pal, or inquire

I encourage others to work with your own wood and come up with your own unique end product. Anyone interested, I'd be glad to share what I have figured out experimenting. Yes there is more to it then meets the eye. The angle we cut the wood, soak times temperatures all have an effect. As you can see, I'm having fun!
