Hey guys,
So i was thinking about grabbing one of those eyelet setting dies and until i can find a cheap local arbor press i can buy would a vice work?
If i drilled out a couple of holes from some steel so make a wider more stable "foot" for the dies to sit in?
I hope that makes some sense if it doesn't let me know and ill see if i can illustrate my idea.
Thanks,
Anthony

Seems like it would work, I can kind of see it in my head working...

I've got a hand setter from knifekits.com that works very well and was told that they have that sort of thing at walmart for cheaper.

Iv had one of the tandy leather eyelet setters and i havent been happy with it, but maybe next time im at walmart ill check tho.
I cant see why it wont work i realize that it would be a lot more time consuming but if the results are good than its worth the time.
Thanks, Hobbyist

I use one of the tandy ones, not no where as nice as having the arbor press but it does the job relatively easy. I use a decent size mallet so I dont have to hit it more then twice.

If you ever get the chance I cant recommend Tracys eyelet dies enough..They do a factory perfect job everytime..

I have Tracys also, and they didn't work worth a damn.......until I flipped them over and started using them the right way;). I just put them in the drill press and they work great.

Get a cheap arbor press from Harbour freight. I used to use a drill press, but this works so much nicer.
Use a 20% off coupon when they are on sale, its dirt cheap then.

That explains why they're a few bucks more... actually I was just watching a vid on kydex where the guy showed the two side by side, the one from USAKinfeMaker.com AKA Tracy (I feel awkward using someones name I don't know) seems to be way more robust.

I can say this, they work easy and they work right..Im glad I ponied up the extra few bucks for them..On a side note his tube flaring dies work great too..They require some practice though..
