I have a guy who wants a sheath made with eyelets holding everything together. I've searched high and low, but cannot find these two pieces of information:
1) Where can they be bought for a good price?
2) What kind of equipment is required to use them? Special tools?
Thanks!
Steve

Hi Chiro.
There was a site posted here or in that other forum some time back that hd eyelets and all kinds of different fasteners. I may have hung on to it,if I did I will send it to you.

One place you can check is any leather or canvas place. That may get you by until you can find a source.
I bought eyelets and grommets from Tandys when they were still in business.

Thanks for the info on the screws. It was much appreciated.

I got eyelets from Tandy's as well. Leather places and even some craft & fabric stores usually have ones that are suitable for Kydex work. You usually need a setting tool, just a metal apparatus similar to a punch or rivet tool. I bought the supplies of a friend's sheath shop, so email me if you don't have any luck and I can probably help you out. I have far more sheath supplies than I think I need right now.

Fastener Supply was recommended by another forumite. The URL is: http://www.fastener-supply.com/
I not sure of the prices, I'm currently tring to get prices and information from them. They also have eyelet pilers and other tools to set eyelets. If you get anymore information please pass it along and I'll do the same.

Take care,
Tom

P.S. Thanks for the screw information.

go to bladetech.com and you will find ever thing you will need for the sheaths including concealex. They have also sent me 12" square samples of this stuff and I like it alot better that kydex.

So far all the inquiries I've made to Blade_tech have been unanswered. I like Kydex 100 because it is DEET-proof. Anyway, I have not been impressed at all by Blade-Tech's service. Maybe I will give them another try. Thanks!

Call NH Northern @ 1-800-533-5545, they have a 419pc kit with 18 attachments and pliers with 400 assorted fasteners for $17 pn# 17131-c129. I have there catalog here and they got lots of tools and hardware(5HP electric motors, hydralic presses, etc).
call them up and see what sizes the eyelets come with the kit. Hope I've helped, PR

you may already be aware of this, but try and get some sort of heavy-duty eyelets or something.
my parents did a lot of artsy-crayfty things when i was a little kid, and they had one of those eyelet-tools and eyelets you can get in a lot of craft/fabric stores. anyways, really flimsy, and i wouldnt trust it to hold anything of any thickness together, especially if it would be put under any stress.
im sure there are plenty of heavy-duty ones out there though

I just bought a bunch from Tandy (the leather craft dudes) here in Vancouver, BC, Canada - they have authorized resellers all over Canada and they do mail order at the one in Vancouver. If you want their address let me know. They also have the tools for use.

Also, Texas Knife Supply carries a couple of sizes of eyelets. I bought some from them several months back. Unfortunately, they don't carry the tools required to neatly put them together - I found that at Tandy.

As for pricing. It seems kinda high, but then your much stronger american dollar should help.
