Hi guys & gals,

I was at a gun store today to take some looks. The owner of the shop is guy at the age of 70 and still a pretty active hunter. However - today I was there and we had some chatting about guns and ammunition.

He also has a great ammount of knives in his displays and I actually fell in love with a Hartkopf knife he had for sale at a great price. The damascus blade is made in Germany at about 300 layers and is called "Rosendamast" - "rosedamascus"; the handles are made of some dark olive wood. A great combination :D

Here are some pics ;)

Nice - isn´t it?

Tang stamp

Obligatory in-hand-pic

Perfect craftmanship as well as a great looking damascus blade

Here´s a little link to F. Hartkopf Solingen about ther damascus offers.

Your opinion is welcome and appreciated as well! :)

that is a beauty! the liners look almost like copper. is that right?

Very classy Andi, great find

FES: It´s about 9.8 cm closed length ... the open length is about 17.6 cm. A great size for EDC, imo

@ wildcat: I doubt that´s copper, I think its nickel silver. A classic lineup somehow ;)

Thanks for your kind words, Jack! Much appreciated!

Great looking Dama-steel and fine knife overall. The olive wood handles combines nicely with the blade steel. I bet it takes very sharp edge.

Congrats to a very fine knife, Andi! I've handled quite a few Hartkopf and they were all very well made. Hand made and made in Germany that is :)
The website says that the blade is made of damascus steel, made by (the well known and very respected) knife smith and knife maker Markus Balbach. The liners are made of brass using a special heat treating to harden them.
Use it in good health!

I am usually not a big fan of Damascus, but it looks very good on that knife. Fine piece of cutlery good sir.

Hartkopf's damascus blades are well done. Generally Hartkopf makes nice knives, but sometimes their fit and finish can be rather lacking - enough that I would not want to buy one sight unseen. Looks like you got a very nice one!

Wow Andi! I absolutely love the looks of this one:thumbup:
Looks to be a solid user with a lovely pattern on the blade. Nice score!

Thanks for the kind replies and comments, fellows! Much appreciated!

I´m trying to get some sunlight today (or the following days) to show the contrast on the blade a little better - I hope I can manage this and weather will be better, means no more fog & rain. :)
