F-ing impressive video demo of the SAK Rescue tool.

I've heard of it,but(though I like saks) never really payed it much attention, glass breaker seemed to work pretty well, the saw was pretty impressive as well, didn't know they were replacable, pretty cool:thumbup:

nice....the interchangeable blade is a neat idea. now....lets rerun that scenario with a larger knife like a busse, i bet the occupant will be screaming like a banshee when he sees some dude rip the cars roof off like a sardine can then smash through the window instead of cutting it. I think that would be a nice parody to make.

I do not want to pee on your glorious show. I can see the use of the rescue tool but I doubt it will be the primary tool used by firecrew. Hey, you have a whole truck full of useful gizmoes but you use a small folder instead. You might manage to cut the glass but you will still need the big metal jaw to cut away the roof. No normal rescue service pulls wounded through the front window, they would tear the car open like a tuna can first.

I might be wrong but I read somewhere in a swedish rescue service magazine that German rescue service doesnt cut the windows because the risk of glass dust in the wounds. There are some differences in tactics on how to retrieve a wounded but usually the car roof goes.

Neat demo. They put it in the hands of a fireman and I agree with Nodh that they would use the hundreds of thousands of $$ of top flight gear to do their job.

That knife is very practical for the guy who doesn't have the truck, or like me, lives in a place where many highways have no emergency service coverage. That's right, no fire, police, or ambulance coverage for hundreds of kilometers at a stretch. If you have an accident you are completely on your own. People do stop to help, they will pull you out of the vehicle and get you to the nearest town... Mac

pict is right I think. This is tool is for a guy with rescue training and experience, who gets caught without his gear. Anyway what a great video! Just makes me again appreciate what great companies the SAK makers are. A day doesn't go by when I dont use my one hand opener, that always rides in the watch pocket of my jeans.

.

Pee on! I don't care if a fireman uses this tool. I am thinking of one for my wife.

I have a dedicated tool velcroed above the driver side window. It does not need to be opened just pulled and used. In an accident you could be injured or unable to fumble with tools. Good to have one handy to smash and cut no messing around.

My 2 cents.
