Whoo hoo....

I'm going to a a shindig at a friends hunt club this Saturday. They have a turkey shoot for turkeys and hams. A bow shoot and lots of activities for the kiddies. Its always nice to see young people being exposed to weapons and how to use them properly.
My buddy has spread the work for all the members to bring what knives they have that need sharpening. Figure it cant hurt to do a little local PR. Might as well bring some knives too :D . I've got a beater hawk that I was planning to donate and let them throw it around for fun. maybe get a little contest going with that. Should be a good time. Oh and there's a chilli cookoff and the adults get steaks, baked taters and salad. all the wives are supposed to bring a side dish and deserts.

Guns, knives and good food and fellowship. Should be a good Saturday.

Sunday I get to meet Bladsmith ( Stacy Apelt) really looking forward to that.

What you got going on?

Sounds like a fun shindig, Mark. Wish I was there. All this talk about ham and turkey has got my belly rumbling. Man, I sure could go for a mess of scrambled eggs and fried spam about now. Hmmm... maybe with a side of biscuits and gravy.

Nothing new here. This summer has been nothing but work work work. I have to work at the shop here this weekend. Good news is: beau coupe overtime. That's good, because I'm trying to get my bike running and I need the cash. Bad news is: Less time to finish that $%#@ house! Getting close though. I long for the day when I can get back into the shop and actually make a real knife again. That ugly knife kinda got my heart pumping again. Stuck up the shop with sanding that handle. Ahhh! Felt good! :p

'bout time you were on the ball again Mark. ;)

Nothing new for me either. More work in the shop finishing orders. I might do some playing around with some #36 from Darren to get away from the orders for a bit.

Gonna do some dove huntin with the shop dog too of course. :)

You all have a good one and be safe.

I got 20' of 5160 delivered yesterday. Been busy grinding some into hunters. I'm pretty much trying to get as much knife work caught up before the weather cools to the point where I won't be able to resist the urge to bow hunt. Can't wait for early muzzleloader season in October. Love to hunt with a smokepole :D Hope you enjoy your Sat. festivities Mark. Have a good weekend everybody ;)

It's my turn to lead a ride with the motorcycle club. It will be a picnic ride to northern Wis. There is a 33K acre nature perserve with a large camping and picnic area on it's north end. This time of year we seldom find any one there except bird watchers so they won't mind a bunch of quiet bikers. I plan to bring a large spotting scope and hope to see some wild life. The weather report shows clear with very little wind and the temp around 70f. Now the biggest thing for me will be to plan my menu for lunch. Last time I brought a can of fish and some crackers -- some of the Wives looked at me like I just came out from under a rock. Oh well can't make friends every day. :D

Not much diferent for me either. Work saturday and maybe some time to finish a few knives, 7 forged and heatreated. A few more belly keys. Supposed to work on the basement floor, new creamic tiles........well maybe.

Saturday will be filled with grinding Titanium for 4-5 hours finishing up some projects. Followed shortly by Talonite and More titanium for a folder I am working on..

Sunday hopefully I will be heading to Raleigh to get some pictures taken of a knife I won an award for so I can show it off and holefully sell it!!:)

It might not be early, Mark, it may actually just be later than usual..... :D

Ahh..... cheap bourbon for breakfast. I remember a few of them good old days. Not many though.

Looks like everyone is having more fun than Jeff and myself. I'm going to check my deer cams and do a little scouting. After that, It's catch up on work and do odds and ends.

There's a shoot here too but I don't have time to go..... :grumpy:

Mark, what color was it??? I had some big chunks of cherry burl, some BIG peices of redwood burl, and some big peices of walnut burl...

so many materials so little memory..

Yup cheap bourbon, can account for many a lost day, week, month, etc....
Anyway IG usually is hitting the Tequila, I think he gave up on the whiskey a long time ago, now...a good bottle of Jack Damage,,,,,I mean Daniels, well that,s another story.

Just got home from work, I'll get some steel ready (lawnmower blade and band saw blade) to make a Damascus billet at IG's tomorrow, and got a 1/2 case of Sam Adams October Fest to share with IG.:D
