Hey guys! As some of you know, im full time kitchen knife maker. Happens that sometimes i just want to have some fun and make bowie knives, it is like a playground time for me that i just want to make a brutal blade that could chop down a tree.

For this beast, i tried to keep my attention on a few details:

1- fewer carbon core exposed possible, for less maintenance required in field.
2- good weight/grind/thickness ratio so you can split wood easily but still not needing to be a bodybuilder to use the knife
3- good ergonomics (choil and spine are rounded, handle is slightly recurve)

This is what i came up with:

The grind on this one is really something to enjoy. It is brutal and will split wood without effort. As some you know, 1084 is a really tough steel (thats why i choosed it), so i could have around 25lbs/ft of toughness while in the 60hrc range.

The grind is taken to perfection and my favorite feature of this knife is the carbon migration of it, creating this cool "smoky" wave pattern around the clad.

THE ENTIRE knife has only 435 grams (around 15oz). It is really easy and fast to move the blade, even a kid above 11~12yo should have no problems chopping with it. The balance is amazing.

Handle is out of solid african ebony with 3 carbon fiber pins precisely fitted. I choosed these materials so they could mix together and look almost invisible, by carbon fiber having average 1,8g/cm³ density, it is much closer to african ebony density (1,2g/cm³) than stainless steel or brass pins would have, this allows to have less unecessary weight on the handle as well making it more stable during more aggressive temperature drops/highs. Beside the precise fitting, it was glued with 24h epoxi for improved toughness too.

Blade is differentially heat treated with clay, so depending the angle you look at it, you will be able to see the hamon of it (hardening line). As you can see, both choil and spine are rounded for increased comfort. The plain facet of the handle is done in a coarser grit for improved grip even in wet conditions.

My makers mark is hand hot forged on the blade and it mixed really well in the forging marks.

700$ shipped with zipped pouch, 800$ with a custom leather sheath included.

PS: While being new to the forum, i got TONS of international references (mostly from US). Im based on Brazil.

Thanks, hope you guys appreciate it.
