Hey guys!

Im HAPPY to, after 3 years of a hiatus, be finishing my second kukri ever.

While im a knifemaker focused and currently trying to master kitchen knives, i like to have some fun sometimes doing some fixed blades.
So, please do enjoy the pictures below of the kukri i just finished.

TAKING PICTURES OF THIS KNIFE WAS HARD, SO IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS KNIFE IN PERSON IS MUCH MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL.
PICTURES DONT DO ITS JUSTICE.

SPECS

This blade was forged out from 52100 bar stock. It is 5,5mm thick on its thickest point and as i forged it, the blade has a very smooth distal taper towards the tip. As the kukri is designed to be a heavy duty knife, i didnt thinned too much so overall the blade has a INSANE swing and balance.

Handle out of Bolivian ironwood. Extremely stable (over 5 years of natural drying) and tough.

The handle has a finish im using very often in my knives that is brushed in the wood surface with polished steel tang. This creates a very aesthetical design as well it GLUES to your hand even when wet. You will be impressed how comfy is to use this knife.

All the corners of this knife has been smoothed. You have a perfectly rounded and polished choil, spine and the curvature of the handle too.

The blade is BIGGER than it looks in the pictures, it has 12" of blade.

The blade was differentially heat treated with clay, keeping the spine of it soft just about 1/3 of the blade width. This will make it much tougher under heavy use.

Heat treating with clay is a technique i use very often on kitchen knives to produce hamon so using it in this blade was a very good combination. This being said, 52100 isnt a steel suitable for hamons as it is considering a "deep hardening" alloy.

Im very pleased by the work of makers like CAS, Burt Foster and Jason Knight so this is somehow inspired by the work of these guys.

This blade as a very interesting design - it is mostly hollow ground but with a smooth convex near the edge - this will produce a very interesting performance for it.

Hope you enjoy it! I instantly regretted forging the curvature of this knife by hand but it payed off.
