So I've had my f1 for a couple of months now it's been on several adventures with me, and as a camp/survival knife I couldn't be happier, However hunting season is approaching and since encoountering a survival situation is not unheard while engaging in such activities I thought of giving it double duty my promary hunting knife and my survival blade, The spine is thicker than hunting knives I've used in the past, was wondering if af anyone has used thier f1 as a hunting knife

Field dressed and skinned a moose with mine. It worked great. The VG-10 holds up as well as Carbon V, tho' it takes a bit longer to resharpen than high carbon steel. The handle is a bit small if you're wearing gloves, but otherwise Thermorun gives an excellent grip, almost as good as Kraton IMHO. Since you're making shallow cuts through a soft medium (hide, flesh) the substantial spine shouldn't make a lot of difference.

The blade shape and size is pretty much what I prefer for hunting use. I was also concerned about the blade thickness, but I think the knife handles and performs like one with a thinner blade.

My black F1 has field-dressed two caribou and did a wonderful job, maintaining its sharp edge throughout. I hope to use it on a whitetail or two this fall!

Good hunting,

dont know what a hunting knife is, you can skin and process just about any animal with any sharp thing. i would not feel that i need a special knife to use for hunting. i would think that some are better than other, but the f1 is a great all around knife and should do a good job for you for whatever the task.
