F1 vs Howler vs SS4 Ideas

Hey all, I need some advice. I have been thinking about running my F1, Howler Gen 1, and Scrapper 4 against each other in a wilderness type testing environment. I know there is a lot of people looking at these knives for their size and comparable traits.

All knives would be sharpened at 20deg on my edge pro @ 2000 Grit. Then they would all be used in a variety of testing. My thoughts are cardboard cutting, whittling spear tips, light limbing with assistance of a baton, batonning 2-4 inch hardwood limbs and food prep. None of the knives would be resharpened once the competition began. Then I would post my observations and results. Can anyone think of anything to add?

I have been thinking of running a clipper to the mix, but figured these three are comparable in size and new cost so it would be fun to just see what happens.

Advice? Thoughts?

GREAT IDEA!!

How about testing each in the Kitchen as well-

Slice up some apples/plums/etc--will let you know how well these cut.

Slice up a whole chicken too---compare the grips when there are oils/grease on your hand

Looking forward to your results..

Comments on handle ergonomics and usability would be nice.

How does it feel in the hand when making fuzz sticks or sharpening a stick or power cuts or such like?

Does it have a choil and if so, is it really usable?

I have some knives that I thought would be pretty great, but after using them for awhile,
find that they just don,t feel good in the hand, and now they just sit in a box

Nice advice all. I'm going to try to plan to incorporate as much as possible into the review. I'm already sharpening the knives. So hopefully soon.

The F1 has both a convex grind and edge. So yes, by sharpening it in this manner I will 'ruin' the convex edge. However, I prefer a V edge, because it is so easy for me to sharpen and maintain.

Sounds like the makings of a great review/comparison. I would like to know the balance points of each knife, blade heavy , handle heavy...that sort of thing.
