F1 vs Peace Maker

i'd go the F1 from those two.

i just went through this kind of mental anguish and gymnastics myself.

i was torn between the Fallkniven S1/WM1 combo and the ESEE RC-5/Izula combo.

i ordered the Fallknivens.

The F1. It is boring, but it works. For me, the blade profile is perfection. I don't like choils, particularly on small blades.

It is a boring knife and made me feel stupid for spending so much money looking for the "perfect knife." It's boring because it would do anything I wanted as a "Bushcraft" or general outdoors knife - boring like the .270 Winchester or 30-06. The "textured, black rubber" handle made a liar of me because it was comfortable even though it was,..... well, textured, black and "rubber." On top of that, the handle was thin, which shouldn't work and the spine was thick, which I criticize in other knives. Stupid Fallkniven! I'm glad it's gone! Now, I can go back to using all my old excuses for buying "another knife" and resume my rationale for why I have to have another knife. Good riddance to that stupid, boring F1! That stupid Fallkniven was ruining my fun and taking away all the good excuses I used to buy more knives.

My thoughts exactly. You gonna hate it because it removes most of the rationale for "buying another knife".

As for the Ferhmann, in theory 3V should be better notably in terms of toughness, but in the real world the F1 is tough enough for normal activity and could go through an emergency without enormous damage (see knifetests test for A1).

As for ergos: the Fehrmann as big front guard and large choil. That seems really very bad choices.
I hate large choils, particularly on some blades. And the handle seems quite boxy from picture too.

I'd say go for F1.

I have an F1, great knife.
In fact, I own three Fallknivens. I think they make an excellent knife.

However, I just ordered a Peacemaker to replace the F1.

Having owned several Fehrmans now, I haven't found a better knife design/steel than Fehrmans 3V blades.

Oh dear that made my side hurt.

Hmm I have a Wm1, F1 and S1. With a hatchet and a saw the Wm1 is pretty damm capable, not much you can't do except clear vines ( but in that enviroment you'd have a machete anyway wouldn't you??).
We sell Fallkniven ( just ordered a MC1 and not sure if it is going to make it into the cabinet) at work. And even customers come in to get a F1, given the oppertunity to hold the F1 in one hand and the S1 in the other hand. Three too one they will take the S1 it just seems to have a better heft.

These are two good knives in two different categories.
If I had to go with just one it would be a Fehrman PM.

It won't mock me when I open the drawer to pick which imperfect knife I will use for whatever task anymore. I pawned it off on some other poor sucker who can be taunted by it.

But then, I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who needs one of the best knives ever made either. Just one thing it lacks - the character of a custom and the cohesion you develop with the maker, if that sort of stuff means anything to you.

Jeff.....this one is for you...just the picture :D(my new avatar btw)

Best of both worlds....best blade ever made with just a touch of custom....I made the handle a little thicker too.....just for you.....I mean, me.:p
