I just got a Chopweiler. The factory edge, while adequate, was not as sharp as my convexed Recon Scout. I hope to get out soon and test the chopping power of the convexed Recon against the heftier Chopweiler. But this test puts everything in doubt!
I have done many chop offs. The key to this one is factory edge. I put a wicked convex edge on my Chopweiler, and it can hold its own with most any knife that size I've tried. But my full convexed NMSFNO is just plain scary. The edge really matters.
