Factory edge sharpness - who is best?

Bflying - your last point is what I'm getting at. Reprofiling after use is expected but should not be the new out of box experience.
 
I have found Kershaw to be the most consistent with their edges.

That's my experience too. Always push cut sharp, even the cheaper models like the Shuffle. I don't own to many other top brands so no comparison.

My Swiss Army Fisherman is twenty or so years old. Never seen a stone or strop and has always been in my tackle boxes or fishing bags. Gets used occasionally but certainly not everyday. The knives push through paper like warm butter.
