Factory second Military sprint help

Hey guys, I just picked up this M4 Military at a very good price. I noticed what I thought was a ding in the blade to rear of the Spydie hole and didn't think too much more about it.

The more I look at it the more I think it might be a marking for a factory second. Does Spyderco sell sprint run factory seconds? If it is a second, what would it be worth? Thanks all! These are the only photos I have for now, I'll add a close up when I get home.

Spyderco will sell seconds of any model, including Sprints and Exclusives. Which is fine, as long as you know what you're buying, but some sellers lack scruples. Tighter shot of the thumb ramp and hump area of the right side of the blade would confirm, but the small mark in that area of your knife definitely looks like it could be a seconds mark. Size and shape are not always the same. These photos will give you an idea of some of them.

It's a factory seconds. The answer is in your clip side picture. The notch is on the right side, right above the jimping.

Well upon further inspection it is almost for sure a second. Looks like the blem is the bottom most jimping on the choil.

It's an awesome knife and I've seen blems go for upwards of $300 so as long as you didn't pay a fortune, use it and be happy you got one. :)

To the OP, this is a 2 part deal: 1) great knife, and a fantastic user. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it as an EDC user. The M4 is my favorite Millie. M4 steel gets freaky sharp, and is pretty dang tough to boot. I flat love the M4 Millie. 2) It sucks that someone would sell the knife as a first. Sure, the knife is cool and it certainly wouldn't bother me to buy it if I knew, there is the key, if I knew.

I suppose there's the possibility the person you bought the knife from didn't know. Having no idea where you bought it, I don't know how good the chances of that are.

FWIW, I have 2 M4's. one user and one safe queen. For the right price, I STILL would have bought yours. The key is to know what you paid.

Ya, it is crazy sharp and is rock solid as far as I can tell. I brought it to the sellers attention and he had never heard of Spyderco doing factory seconds. He wasn't the original buyer and actually picked it up off the forums. He offered to refund my money in whole for the confusion and also offered to do a partial refund if I wanted to keep it. He is a very stand up guy and a great seller. I chose to keep it and now have $150 into it. The only blem I could find was a bad cut on the choil jimping. I'm happy with it, and am now more likely to actually beat on it a bit :)
