factory seconds?

As for the factory, a valid EDC would not have a true functional issue and the factory would have no trouble correcting it.

A bit confusing. You first say that a valid EDC would not have a true functional issue, then say the factory would have no trouble correcting it. What would they be correcting if it had no functional issue?

Not trying to be combative - just wondering if you had a typo, etc.?:confused:

I am pretty certain that GEC would correct something like a broken backspring at no cost to the user. Short of something similar to that, it would most likely be something caused by the user and warranty should not be expected. To be clear, in all my years of knife buying, I have never had to send a knife in for warranty work. To me, non-centered blades, blade rubbing, etc., are cosmetic.

I can count on one hand the number of knives that I have even exchanged. I accept the little faults.

Warranty on pocket knives has never been much of a concern to me. Now a car, that is a different matter. :D

Got 2 knives from the Kai factory seconds in December. The first is currently my favourite, Kershaw Knockout in Elmax. I've not been able to find any defects in the guy if I had to guess it's because the backspacer isn't completely flush with the rest of the back. It's really minor but I like the feel of that little dip when I fondle it. The second is a composite Leek. It was hard to spot this but now that I've seen it I can't unsee it. There are 2 patches on the knife's presentation side that aren't uniform with the rest of the knife. The rest of it looks like a really soft bead blasted finish but these 2 patches are about 1cm in diameter baldspots in the knife.

That being said they're both really good and functional knives

Edit: wrong subforum sorry guys

That had me scratching my head also, glad you asked, I thought I was just slow on the uptake, as usual.
