Factory Seconds

Requests for availability for factory seconds have been very good. What exactly is a factory second and the level of flaws that determines whether or not a knife is destroyed or sold as a second?

My very first two SOG's as factory seconds: the Bowie and the SEAL 2000. Whatever the SOG QA folks "saw" as a defect, well, their loss was very nice to my pocketbook.

For example, I was told the finish on the SEAL 2000 was not up to standards. Heck, within 2 weeks I had most of the finish worn off anyway, so that "defect" wasn't a defect.

I don't know what was wrong with the Bowie .... maybe it was too sharp ??
