Recommendation? Fairbairn - Sykes Commando Dagger reproduction?

Hey Armadew , is that last picture your personal 2nd pattern FS knife from Macdonalds ??
Thanks
mike

Yeah, Windlass does still make an FS knife, about the same cost as a standard KA-BAR F/U knife over at the Georgia cutlery store.

The Besh Wedge is mean but of course overcomes any weakness the FS tip might have.

It should be practical for penetrating water jugs without the tip bending ..., should one so desire.

Is it still an FS pattern though, if its a Besh Wedge ... ?

Not that Im hung up on that.

Böker makes a standard tip FS repro.

Here is my FS. Its the real deal from the 40s - its held up nicely:

Your third pattern is a post-war knife.
You have a stamped guard, see the ridge down the edge.
This type guard was only adopted after WW2.
The WW2 guards were thicker and machined, 100% not stamped.
The black elastic is also a post war type, would have been brown elastic in WW2.
You may have some WW2 parts on the knife, check the sides of the handle, after WW2 they began leaving the mold seams on either side of the handle, during the war, these seams were ground and sanded to the point of being invisible.

It is still an honest issue knife, just not WW2 issue.

I saw something called the Sandbox Dagger which looks like the same pattern, but a more rounded tip. The price was in the range mentioned in the original post.
