Fairly Knives Photos

Wilson, thanks for clueing me in on the "reply with Quote" option. I'm still getting the hang of this.
Yes, the credit card knives are unfamiliar to me. I still can't figure out what all the holes are for!

The other comment was referring to the teak rigging knife at #105, because it is so beautifully executed, it made my heart skip a beat.

Hey thanks for the compliments!

This will explain the holes ---> http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1008043-Cobalt-Blue-CC-Knife-99-Holiday-Special

The two connected holes are for your fingers to go through, the oval to open bottles and the two slots are for grip when removing it from the sheath or wallet.

I'm making one more teak rigger, maybe two. One is for an order and the other I am deciding on.

Daniel,
I would sell lesser gear like a MADMAN, in order to have a DFK Teak Rigger & Spike combo.
I cannot afford one right now, so I guess it's a moot point, but please do me this favor: for whomever is the lucky recipient: please make it a combo, with another gorgeous marlinspike....please.

Another teak rigger?!?! :D

You mean someone else is gonna have a knife like mine!? Awesome!

Gotta see this one when it comes about!

Well, ok Gnarly, hang on to something...

....more spike porn!

I did a little creative fancy work to personalize my spike. 5B2L turks head on the shank and a 5 strand star knot dangler on a stainless turnbuckle split ring. Bright orange Yale quick cord and white nylon clothes line.

I'm even more convinced in the beauty of this design of spike now! A star knot is not an easy one to work, especially to draw it up. "Standard" spikes like the Buck 315 or whatever brand folding spike knife combo really are too fat and too stubby to work small cordage like 550 cord or even smaller stuff at all. The long, lean taper with nicely polished tip slides right through like stong coffee on an empty stomach. It does not part fibers or disrupt adjacent lays.

Daniel, you've got a winner of a tool here.:thumbup:

Every time I see that spike it reminds me of a wedge drift used to remove Morse taper shank tools. Go figure.

Hey I made one of those too! lol it is close to the same but not nearly as nice. I had lost my drift and had to make one.

Every time I see that spike, my mouth leaks a little at one corner.
And my eyes get a little moist.
And I get a small wet spot, in the front of my

Lost my train of thought.

Pretty amazing how just a piece of scrap can turn into a serviceable tool, and look good to boot! I've got an idead for the piggy back holder I'm going to try out.

Thanks guys!

No run on the 'spikes but I'll do what I can! I hate turning down projects but it is time for folders soon!

Hey gnarly, you wouldn't happen to have a spare liver would ya? I may need one in a few years...

Here are the two new stars of my budding custom collection- I'm a freshly-minted Fairlyphile.

And I'm so crazy about the sheath for the D2 Tanto that first brought me to Daniel's work, I had to make this little homage this evening:

.315 A2 steel and purple CTEK!

This one is mirror polished everywhere, even under the scales so the translucent CTEK scales really glow!

The scale material looks like it is under a blacklight when the sun is bright.
